Five ‘Must Have’ Maternity Dresses

Each lady probably has at least one dress in her wardrobe. When you are expecting a baby, dresses can be one of the most comfortable items of your new maternity assortment.  There are 5 ‘must have’ maternity dresses which each mum-to-be should have and which can be appropriate for any occasion.

In winter you should make sure that you wear warm clothes protecting you and your little one from uncomfortable weather. You can buy a chunky knitted tunic dress featuring a funnel neck and capped sleeves. If it has a mid-thigh fit, you can wear a long sleeved top with a scoop neck and leggings underneath this dress. Another interesting winter solution is a dress featuring a black and white pattern, a wide slashed neck and long cuff sleeves. Knitted winter dresses can go well with long pull on leather boots.

In spring you can go for loose maternity dresses made of sketchy floral or butterfly print fabrics. Spring dresses can have gathered floaty styles and come as short or long sleeved. For cool evenings you can wear them with a three quarter sleeve jacket. If your bump requires more space you can go for a hooded button cape with oversized style sleeves. It does not restrict your movements and you can feel absolutely comfortable in the belly area. If you used to wear high heels before you got pregnant you do not need to deprive yourself of your favourite footwear style and can try classic court shoes with wedges and ankle straps for a better fit.

In summer days may be hot and evenings rather cool. So it is advisable to wear maternity dresses made of natural breathable materials which can allow you to feel fresh all day and can perfectly go with a stylish jacket in the evening. You can buy a dress of one of the hottest hues this season, for example blue, coral or goldfish orange. A summer dress can have a simple loose design with a chunky zip back. If you want a more exquisite variant, it can be a dress with all over embroidery or embroidered scallop hems. You can wear cedar wedges with textured leather effect uppers of a multi cross strap design or simple canvas ballerina pumps.

In autumn when it gets a bit cooler you can buy either gentle pastel colour maternity dresses or those made of heavy printed fabrics. A cropped sleeved pale pink dress featuring a broderie anglaise finish and lightly gathered shoulders can be a good example. Lace up broque style shoes with suede uppers can be great for autumn.
And, of course, you need a dress for special occasions. If you want to create a glam look you can go for a black dress with a stand-up collar featuring a crochet finish and colour coded lining. If it is autumn or winter and your dress has a scoop neck, you can combine it with a matching scarf. This dress can be paired with round peep toe heels and a clutch.

Maternity dresses usually come with empire waists which skim over your bump and have floaty cuts so they can grow with you. They are designed to give you freedom in the belly area and at the same time reflect the beauty of your changing curves securing your comfort throughout your pregnancy.
